Online Therapy in Virginia
From Northern Virginia to Richmond, Virginia Beach to the Shenandoah Valley — meet with a Virginia-licensed therapist by private video and make progress on your terms, wherever in the Commonwealth you call home.
Counseling for Virginians, minus the waiting room
Heather Dick, LCSW sees Virginia clients by secure telehealth. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 20 years in practice, she is also a Certified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC), and holds clinical licenses in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
Video sessions follow the same arc as office visits: a thorough initial evaluation, clear goals, and evidence-based methods — CBT, mindfulness-based approaches, and psychodynamic work. What changes is the logistics: no commute, no waiting room, no rearranging your whole day.
Common reasons Virginians reach out
- Persistent anxiety, panic, or burnout
- Depression and loss of motivation
- Drinking or substance use you want to change — recovery counseling guided by a SAP
- Marriage and relationship strain — individually or as a couple
- Anger that’s costing you at work or at home
- Grief, caregiving stress, and major life changes
How it works
One call — or the form below — starts it. We’ll set your initial evaluation, then meet by video in 30-, 45-, or 55-minute sessions. All you need is a private spot and an internet connection; early-evening times make it workable around NoVA commutes, federal schedules, and family life.
Our self-pay rates match our in-person fees: $175 for the initial evaluation, then $145, $125, or $100 by session length. We participate with most commercial insurance companies, so most Virginia clients pay just their insurance portion for sessions.

Clear fees, no surprises
We believe knowing the cost up front is part of feeling at ease. Rates are the same whether you meet in person at our State College office or by secure telehealth. These are self-pay rates — we participate with most commercial insurance companies, so many clients pay only their insurance portion for sessions.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have an office in Virginia?
No — our Virginia care is telehealth-only. Our office is in State College, PA, but licensing covers both ends: your therapist must be licensed where they practice and where you are located at the time of the session. Heather is licensed in Pennsylvania and holds a full Virginia clinical license, so she can ethically treat you anywhere in the Commonwealth by secure video.
Is a video session as effective as sitting in an office?
For most concerns, yes. You meet the same therapist each week, use the same evidence-based methods, and outcomes research consistently supports telehealth. Many clients find they open up more easily from their own space.
What hours are available for Virginia clients?
Heather offers daytime and evening-friendly appointments. Because there’s no drive time, a session can fit into a lunch break or after the kids are settled for the night.
